Gama started his business career in Zimbabwe where he published the famous music magazine “Beat International” in 1986. The magazine grew in popularity to a stage where it made him a household name in the media among teenagers.”Beat” as it was called is considered one of the key cultural icons of its era, defining trends and shaping fashion among impressionable teenagers. So popular did the magazine make its founder that it led to what is now called “The Cha Cha Cha Incident”. |
Gama started his business career in Zimbabwe where he published the famous music magazine “Beat International.”
Today, Gama sits on several boards of companies involved in property, manufacturing and agroprocessing. Gama is a founder member of the following entities: African Agroprocessing Partners, and CKLM Investment Partners
For his first degree, Gama attended the University of Westminsterin London where he graduated with a BA (Honours) in business studies. He then attended the University of Cape Town in South Africa for a master’s degree in Energy Policy and Planning.
Gama is a keen music lover who, in addition to impressive reggae collection also boasts the entire collection of Bob Dylan, Thomas Mapfumo and Oliver Mutukudzi. He is also a serious nature lover who visits national parks in South Africa at least three times every year.
Gama is married to Dr Nellie Mutemeri, a mining consultant who specialises in mining policy on the African continent. They have two children: Itai Tatenda, a political science graduate from The University of Cape Town and Yeukai Gugulethu, currently a metric learner at the Rodean Girls School.
The family keeps two white Maltese poodles at their home across Lymington Park in Johannesburg.
